Job summary

Job description

  • Register patients and accurately enter demographic and insurance information for medical records and billing
  • Verify health insurance and complete pre-certification when necessary
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket payments; manage, balance, verify, and deposit daily cash activities
  • Answer phones, schedule appointments, complete patient referrals, and process documentation
  • Manage office correspondence and medical record documentation while processing information and records requests confidentially
  • Greet and assist patients, visitors, and staff; provide accurate information and direct them appropriately
  • Coordinate and schedule admissions, procedures, and bed assignments with physicians and other departments
  • Assist with employee orientation and development, review and delegate daily tasks, and oversee departmental processes
  • Monitor, audit, and work work queues; analyze workflows and ensure timely, accurate data entry
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • 0-2 years of paid experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area; part-time and PRN experience prorated based on hours worked per week
  • All experience must be paid and in the same related field
  • Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted
  • Certifications & Licensures: N/A
  • Ability to lift, push, and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to stand or walk with objects up to 25 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds intermittently
  • Ability to sit at a computer workstation for extended periods intermittently
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions such as typing
  • Ability to work with occasional exposure to bloodborne/airborne pathogens, hazardous chemicals and fumes, radiation-related environments, and combative/violent people
