Job summary

Jobtailor in United States, South Carolina, Moncks Corner seeks an experienced front desk / patient registration associate to greet patients, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and manage patient flow with strong customer service. You will enter data accurately, process payments, and support multiple practice locations as needed.

The role emphasizes exceptional communication, problem solving, and proficiency with MyChart and EHR systems. Travel to off-site locations may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Prior healthcare registration experience preferred.
  • Typing speed of 40+ WPM and basic math skills required.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-9 coding preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between patients and physician practices.
  • Greet patients and community members respectfully and provide excellent customer service.
  • Answer, route and manage internal and external calls.
  • Schedule, reschedule and cancel patient appointments and services.
  • Enter patient scheduling information into the computer system accurately and promptly.
  • Process patients as they present for appointments.
  • Process admission paperwork and perform basic insurance verification.
  • Obtain, complete and verify patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Correct registration errors.
  • Record lobby wait-time indicators.
  • Calculate patient liabilities and collect and process patient payments.
  • Reconcile the cash drawer at the close of the day.
  • Perform charge entry for external services as necessary.
  • Schedule referrals and follow-up appointments.
  • Assist patients with online scheduling and MyChart.
  • Assist patients in obtaining referrals and record referrals on the tracking tool.
  • Obtain or assist with obtaining authorizations and pre-certifications for procedures.
  • Pull, file, maintain and route patient charts according to office policy.
  • Verify prescription benefits in the electronic health record.
  • Refer patients to financial counselors when needed.
  • Complete accounts in revenue cycle software.
  • Occasionally cover other physician practice locations as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly, maintain patient flow, and inform the supervisor of department and patient issues.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Prior experience in patient registration/healthcare (preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Typing and computer skills, including 40+ WPM typing skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-9 coding (preferred)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served
  • Required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and learn infection-control policies
  • Required to car travel to off-site locations occasionally
  • Long-distance or air travel as needed, not to exceed 10% travel
