Responsibilities

Job description

• Accurately register patients in the EMR/Epic, validate patient information, verify insurance coverage, collect required payments, and support a best-in-class patient experience
• Advise patients about collection and billing procedures, anticipated charges, liability, payment responsibilities, and patient rights/Advance Directives
• Welcome patients and families, answer questions and concerns, and update patient and insurance records
• Monitor patient flow and schedules; schedule and reschedule appointments
• Review accounts, determine financial responsibility, arrange payment plans, collect outstanding balances, reconcile daily cash, and meet site collection goals
• Assist patients with government and community health-care resources and facilitate access to MyChart and other information
• Coordinate referrals with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff according to payor requirements
• Perform clerical duties, including answering phones, retrieving medical records, recording data, typing memorandums, and filing charts
• Research claim edits, denials, billing discrepancies, diagnosis and procedure codes, and resolve discrepancies within required timeframes
• Key charges, process batches, prepare bank/deposit summaries, and accurately enter point-of-service data
• Act as clinic backup, support operational improvement initiatives, and provide training and orientation when assigned
• Perform other duties as assigned
