Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Patient Coordinator I to greet patients, verify demographics and insurance, and ensure smooth flow of the practice. The role involves updating records, confirming coverage for the physician, and communicating with staff to prepare patient visits.

Responsibilities include handling HIPAA paperwork, collecting co-pays, scheduling follow-ups, and answering phones in a call-center capacity within Faculty Practice Associates.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• 1 year physician practice experience.
• On-site training will be provided.
• Experience with IDX or other practice management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in person or by phone and update insurance/demographics in the practice management system.
• Verify that the physician accepts the patient’s insurance and complete insurance verification at or before arrival.
• Coordinate with staff to ensure patient records are available and HIPAA paperwork is processed.
• Collect co-pays and provide receipts, following cash-control procedures.
• Answer calls, schedule appointments, and may assist with simple charge entry or payments.
