Job summary

The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Patient Coordinator I in New York City to greet patients, verify insurance, and keep demographics current. You will coordinate with the care team to ensure accurate records and smooth patient flow in a busy practice environment.

Responsibilities include updating patient information, confirming insurance coverage, handling HIPAA paperwork, collecting co-pays, and sometimes scheduling follow-up visits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year physician practice experience.
• On-site training provided; familiarity with scheduling systems preferred.
• Experience with IDX or similar practice management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in person or by phone and update insurance/demographics in the practice management system.
• Verify that physician accepts the insurance presented and confirm prior to visit when needed.
• Communicate with staff about patient arrival and ensure medical records are available.
• Process HIPAA paperwork and other forms as required.
• Collect co-pays and provide receipts per cash-control procedures.
• May schedule follow-up appointments and provide records requests guidance.
• Handle simple charge entry tasks or record payments and prepare deposits.
