Job summary

Duke University Health System's Patient Revenue Management Organization is seeking a detail-oriented billing specialist to ensure accurate patient accounts, review insurance coverage, and secure proper authorizations for services.

In this on-site role based in Durham, you will interact with patients and providers, collect payments, resolve claim denials, and update billing records to support timely reimbursement and compliant financial operations.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
• Ability to analyze data, perform multiple tasks and work independently.
• Must be able to develop and maintain professional, service-oriented working relationships.
• Knowledge of basic grammar and mathematical principles expected through high school education.

Responsibilities

• Analyze insurance coverage and benefits for service to ensure timely reimbursement.
• Obtain all Prior Authorization and/or authorizations as appropriate.
• Facilitate payment sources for uninsured patients.
• Determine if patient condition affects liability/payment and research appropriately.
• Admit, register and pre-register patients with accurate demographic and financial data.
