Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Financial Care Counselor to support the Patient Revenue Management Organization in Durham, NC. The role handles insurance verification, authorization, billing and patient financial counseling in a fast-paced environment.

Onsite, Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, you will analyze coverage, collect payments, assist with government funding sources, and help patients understand bills and payment options.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school education; some college preferred.
  • Two years' hospital service access, clinical service access, or billing experience.
  • Or an Associate's degree in healthcare and one year of public-facing experience.
  • Or a Bachelor's degree and one year of public-facing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze insurance coverage and benefits to ensure timely reimbursement.
  • Obtain required authorizations and facilitate payment sources for uninsured.
  • Register and pre-register patients with accurate data; update billing system.
  • Explain bills per PRMO policies and assist financially responsible persons.
  • Refer patients to financial counseling and Manufacturer Drug program.
