Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Revenue Cycle professional to join the Patient Revenue Management Organization. You will analyze insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and assist with patient registration and financial counseling to ensure accurate billing and timely reimbursement.

Strong communication skills and experience in hospital billing and collections are required; high school education with some postsecondary training is acceptable.

Qualifications

• Two years experience in hospital service access, billing or collections.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Able to analyze data and uphold policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Analyze insurance coverage and benefits for service to ensure timely reimbursement.
• Obtain all Prior Authorization Certification and/or authorizations as appropriate.
• Facilitate payment sources for uninsured patients.
• Determine if patient's condition is the result of an accident and identify liability/payment sources.
• Admit, register and pre-register patients with accurate demographic and financial data.
• Resolve insurance claim rejections/denials and remedy expediently.
• Calculate and collect cash payments and reconcile daily deposits.
• Explain bills according to PRMO credit and collection policies.
• Refer patients to financial counseling and determine third party sponsorships.
• Document billing system according to policy and update referrals as required.
