Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Patient Financial Access Specialist - OP to manage patient demographics, scheduling and billing workflows. The role requires careful data entry, strong communication with patients and physicians, and collaboration across clinic teams to ensure accurate reimbursements.

You'll work across outpatient service areas, handle complex scheduling, and support system improvements while upholding our patient-centered values and standards of professional behavior.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Two to three years of customer service experience, preferably in a hospital/physician office with emphasis on registration, scheduling, and insurance.
  • Strong communication, multitasking and computer skills; ability to educate and advocate for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Throughput: ensure information from referrers is provided to payers for reimbursement.
  • Insurance: enter insurance data accurately and verify eligibility to support billing.
  • Complex Appointment Scheduling: schedule time-sensitive appointments using Epic and other systems.
  • QA/Training: assist with procedure templates and provide training to staff as needed.
  • Customer Service: uphold patient-centered standards and smooth department operations.
