Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Patient Financial Access Specialist - OP to manage scheduling, patient demographics, and insurance information in outpatient settings. You will coordinate complex appointments, verify eligibility, and ensure accurate data entry to support timely reimbursement and patient care.

The role requires strong communication, multitasking, and a patient‑centered approach within a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Associate degree preferred.
2–3 years' work experience in a customer service environment preferably in hospital/physician office with emphasis on registration, scheduling, and all aspects of medical insurance and eligibility requirements preferred.
Knowledge of insurance eligibility and billing processes; proficient in scheduling and patient data entry.
Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to train others and use various computer systems.

Responsibilities

Schedule patient appointments in the appropriate scheduling system.
Enter patient demographics and insurance information to ensure reimbursement.
Coordinate complex outpatient scheduling across locations.
Provide service excellence per department standards to enhance patient experience.
Develop scheduling templates with clinical staff for Epic System.
Train staff on processes and system updates as needed.
