Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Service Representative to support patient check-in/check-out and registration processes within our care system. You will consistently deliver exceptional customer service to patients and guests while ensuring accurate information flow during visits.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with 0–2 years in customer service; preferred candidates may hold a bachelor’s degree and have knowledge of medical terminology.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–2 years of customer service experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree.
• Preferred: Working knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and guests on arrival and verify identity and visit details.
• Handle check-in and check-out processes as directed.
• Update patient demographics and insurance information.
• Assist with patient registrations as needed.
• Obtain patient consents and authorizations.
• Collect co-payments and other payments; post payments.
• Close out the day with accurate cash handling and reporting.
• Keep the waiting area clean and comfortable.
• Inform patients about delays or changes in appointments.
• Coordinate appointments and, if in ICCs, float to other clinics.
