Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a front desk patient access specialist to greet patients, verify demographics and insurance, schedule appointments and collect co-pays. You will coordinate patient flow within a hospital department and support time-of-service processing and test requisitions.

Responsibilities include answering phones, triage, updating records, and ensuring a smooth check-out process while maintaining high-quality patient experience and cooperation with medical staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6 months to 1 year of customer service experience in healthcare preferred.
• Knowledge of IDX/GE Centricity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and coordinate efficient flow in the department.
• Schedule appointments and process co-pays and TOS payments.
• Update demographics and insurance information and prepare requisitions for tests.
• Answer phones, provide triage and route messages.
• Scan and index documents to ensure medical records are complete.
• Monitor no-shows and contact patients about missed appointments.
• Assist with check-out and ensure timely data entry of charges.
• Collaborate with team to improve patient experience.
