Job summary

Summit Health is seeking a Patient Service Representative to greet patients, manage registration, and provide frontline customer service in a fast-paced environment. The role involves handling phone calls, scheduling, payments, and insurance verifications with attention to accuracy and HIPAA compliance.

Proficiency in English, a high school diploma or GED, and previous PSR or medical office experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
• Previous PSR experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
• Must have excellent customer service skills.
• Must organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner.
• Knowledge of medical office and terminology preferred.
• Basic proficiency in computer use; Windows-based environment preferred.
• Experience with EHR, Practice Management System and related systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and direct them professionally.
• Maintain efficient patient flow during registration and provide service.
• Answer phones, route calls, take messages and demonstrate etiquette.
• Inform patients of delays and assist with comfort.
• Post self-pay charges, collect payments and provide receipts.
• Reconcile daily payments and deposits; reconcile scheduling.
• Open/close batches, reconcile and document corrections.
• Scan insurance cards; verify insurance and update patient records.
• Schedule appointments per guidelines and manage waitlists.
• Enter orders for tests and procedures; follow workflows.
• Coordinate pre-authorizations with care teams and referrals.
• Communicate issues to Office Supervisor promptly.
