Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a patient access specialist to greet patients, verify insurance, register demographics, collect co-pays, and schedule appointments and tests as needed.

You will manage front desk duties, answer calls with professionalism, process Time-of-Service payments, update medical records, and support smooth patient flow while upholding our patient experience standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year to 1 year of high-quality customer service experience; healthcare setting preferred.
• Experience with computerized scheduling, registration systems and electronic records preferred.
• Experience with IDX/GE Centricity is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in a courteous, professional manner and verify insurance information.
• Register patients, collect co-pays, and process Time-of-Service payments.
• Schedule appointments and tests; update demographics and insurance data.
• Answer phones, provide telephone triage, and relay messages as needed.
• Prepare forms and records; maintain clinical documents and patient records.
