Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Lorain is seeking a Patient Service Specialist to support registration, scheduling, insurance verification and patient financial counseling. You will engage with patients and families from arrival through departure, delivering a high-quality, compassionate experience in a fast-paced Ambulatory Operations setting.

The role covers 6:30am-8:00pm shifts with potential weekends, and offers opportunities to grow within the Cleveland Clinic Health System.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus two years in patient registration, scheduling, insurance processing or customer service.
• Associate’s Degree with one year of experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive, proactive and “Patients First” experience for patients and visitors.
• Investigate, triage and resolve patient issues using the HEART model.
• Create a welcoming, professional environment and ensure stellar patient experiences.
• Capture and verify referrals, cancellation reasons, insurance coverage and physician data.
• Provide patient estimates for services and align insurance coverage with services.
• Register patients, schedule visits, verify insurance, collect co-pays, and coordinate interpreter services.
• Encourage front-end technology use and provide MyChart guidance and training.
• Enter and maintain confidential patient information and schedule staff.
• Support travel within the region to other locations as needed.
