Job summary

MainStreet Family Care in Elizabeth City, NC is seeking a friendly Patient Greeter to welcome patients, guide them through registration, and ensure a smooth, positive first impression as they enter the clinic.

Greeters will be cross-trained as Medical Assistants to provide basic clinical support when needed. The role involves rotating schedules, helping patients with self‑service kiosks, answering questions, and keeping the front desk welcoming and organized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Friendly, approachable, and patient-focused personality.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working with people of all ages and backgrounds.
• Comfortable learning and assisting with technology, including self‑service kiosks.
• Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and helpful when assisting patients who may be frustrated or unfamiliar with the check‑in process.
• Prior healthcare or customer service experience is beneficial, but not required.
• Willingness to complete Medical Assistant cross‑training.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and create a friendly, positive first impression.
• Greet patients as they arrive and help direct them through the check‑in process.
• Assist patients with questions about the self‑service check‑in and registration kiosk.
• Provide guidance and troubleshooting when patients have difficulty navigating the kiosk.
• Help patients understand what information is needed to complete registration.
• Ensure patients know what to expect during the check‑in process without completing registration on their behalf.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front‑of‑clinic environment.
• Communicate with the clinical team when patients need additional assistance.
• Help maintain a smooth and efficient patient flow within the clinic.
• Complete Medical Assistant cross‑training and maintain competency in applicable clinical responsibilities.
• Assist with Medical Assistant duties when needed based on clinic staffing and patient volume.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
