Job summary

Advanced Physical Therapy is seeking a Full Time Front Desk Medical Receptionist in the Kansas City area. You will be the first voice and face, creating a welcoming, organized patient experience while handling scheduling, insurance verification, payments, and HIPAA compliance.

The position requires 1+ year in a customer-facing role, the ability to multitask, and strong communication skills. Training on EMR and scheduling workflows is provided.

Qualifications

• You don't need a healthcare background but must enjoy helping people and stay calm in a busy setting.
• 1+ year in customer-facing or patient-facing roles (retail, hospitality, call center, or healthcare front desk).
• Ability to manage multiple tasks while staying organized and detail-oriented.
• Comfortable communicating on the phone, handling upset callers with professionalism.
• Basic computer proficiency; learn new systems, navigate scheduling software, and use spreadsheets.
• No prior medical experience required; training provided including EMR navigation and scheduling workflows.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming, professional first impression for patients and visitors.
• Manage front desk operations: check-in/out, scheduling, insurance verification/authorization, and calls.
• Review and follow up on referrals; update patient records and explain next steps.
• Keep patient flow by confirming appointments, managing waitlists, and handling cancellations.
• Collect copays and payments accurately; track balances when needed.
• Protect patient privacy and HIPAA compliance in all interactions.
