Job summary

MyMichigan Health is seeking a Patient Services Assistant to serve as the front-line contact in the practice. You will answer calls, schedule appointments, register patients, verify insurance, collect payments and assist with referrals and tests.

A courteous, compassionate, and professional demeanor is essential. The role emphasizes accurate data entry, HIPAA awareness, and teamwork with front office, clinical staff and providers while delivering excellent customer service to a diverse patient

Qualifications

Reading, writing, mathematical and computer skills required.
Keyboarding skills to register patients and perform office tasks.
Knowledge of medical terminology and medical office policies.
Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with patients, families and staff.

Responsibilities

Acknowledge and welcome patients, families and visitors to the practice.
Verify and update patient information and insurance; complete required forms.
Schedule patient appointments using practice management and EMR systems.
Register new patients and explain policies; collect emails for portal access.
Schedule future appointments, tests, referrals and collect copayments at checkout.
