Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking an organized Patient Services Associate to support a multidisciplinary care team with administrative tasks. The role requires greeting patients, verifying demographics and insurance, scheduling appointments, handling payments, and maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA.

The candidate will work independently under supervision and contribute to a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

• Experience or education equivalent to HS graduation.
• 18 months preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients promptly in a warm, friendly manner and verifies demographic information.
• Verifies insurance and assists with forms, referrals, and pre-authorizations.
• Handles payments, processes co-pays, and reconciles cash and deposits.
• Routes calls and directs to appropriate staff; answers inquiries in a cheerful, policy-compliant way.
• Schedules appointments and manages waitlists, reminders, and no-shows.
• Maintains the waiting area and directs patients to facilities and amenities.
• Performs mail/fax processing and documents patient interactions per HIPAA.
