Job summary

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking a patient services professional to support patients before, during, and after appointments. You will facilitate check-in/out, coordinate scheduling, verify insurance, and assist with billing while upholding HIPAA and privacy standards.

In this role you will interact with patients, staff, and payors, delivering excellent service and ensuring accurate data entry, payments, and compliant administrative processes.

Qualifications

• Provides service to patients before, during or after appointments with regular guidance.
• Verifies insurance coverage and assists with billing and payments.
• Follows HIPAA, consent and billing form standards and safeguards patient information.

Responsibilities

• Check-in and check-out patients.
• Manage reception area and devices; support MHAV engagement.
• Schedule appointments and communicate with patients.
• Provide customer service and de-escalate issues to maintain service quality.
• Verify insurance, resolve payor verification issues and support accurate billing.
• Collect payments due at time of service and ensure timely collections.
• Ensure HIPAA and consent forms meet policy requirements.
• Interpret patient situations involving minors/incapacitated adults per policies.
• Responsibilities may expand beyond listed tasks.
