Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year physician practice experience.
• On-site training of one week will be provided by the practice.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in person or by phone and update insurance/demographics.
• Verify insurance and ensure physician accepts presented coverage.
• Communicate with staff about patient arrival and ensure medical records are ready.
• Handle HIPAA paperwork and other forms as required.
• Obtain referrals or insurance authorizations as needed.
• Monitor waiting room status and inform patients of wait times.
• Collect or confirm co-pays and provide receipts per cash-control processes.
• May schedule follow-up appointments and advise on records requests.
• May perform simple charge entry or payment posting duties.
• Answer calls for the practice and schedule appointments.
• Comply with HIPAA and other PHI handling rules.
• May initiate reminder calls for next-day appointments.
