Qualifications

• High School graduate/GED.
• 1 year physician practice experience.
• Must have a minimum of one week training on-site which will be provided by practice.
• Prefer experience in a medical office setting, utilizing a computer system for physician scheduling.
• IDX or other practice management system experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in person or by phone and update insurance/demographics in the practice management system.
• Verify insurance prior to arrival or at arrival; ensure physician accepts presented insurance.
• Coordinate with staff to ensure patient records and arrival times are ready for the physician.
• Process HIPAA-related paperwork and other institutional forms.
• Collect or retrieve referrals or insurance authorizations as required.
• Monitor waiting room status and inform patients of wait times.
• Collect co-pays and provide receipts per cash-control procedures.
• Schedule follow-up appointments when needed and guide patients on obtaining medical records.
• Possibly perform simple charge entry or process payments and prepare bank deposits.
• Answer phones and schedule appointments in a call center capacity.
• Adhere to HIPAA and other regulations regarding PHI handling.
• Initiate reminder calls for next day appointments.
• Perform other related duties as needed.
