Job summary

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED required.
• At least 1 year physician practice experience.
• One week of on-site training will be provided.
• Experience with medical office scheduling systems preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and patient privacy.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in person or by phone and update demographics.
• Verify insurance coverage and ensure physician accepts presented plans.
• Coordinate with staff to have patient records ready for the physician.
• Process HIPAA-related paperwork and other forms as needed.
• Collect referrals or authorizations as required.
• Monitor waiting room and inform patients about wait times.
• Collect or confirm co-pays, provide receipts per cash controls.
• Schedule follow-up appointments when needed and share records access info.
• Enter charges or record payments; deposits handled by billing.
• Answer calls and schedule appointments in a call center capacity.
• Handle PHI per HIPAA and state regulations.
• Make reminder calls for next-day appointments.
• Perform other related duties.
