Job summary

Brown University Health seeks a Patient Service Specialist to join the front desk and administration team at our Dartmouth location. You will handle patient calls, appointments, registrations, and insurance verification while maintaining professionalism and patient confidentiality.

You will document interactions in EPIC, assist with pre-visit planning, and support revenue cycle activities. A high school diploma and medical assistant exposure are preferred, with strong customer service as a must.

Qualifications

• One to three years as a medical assistant preferred.
• Strong customer service excellence expected.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Experience with EMR strongly preferred. (Athena a plus).
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers calls and routes messages; provides routine information to callers and ensures the right staff receives information.
• Delivers high level customer service to patients of the practice.
• Creates patient cases and documents calls and messages in EPIC.
• Schedules patient appointments and testing as requested.
• Registers patients in EMR, verifies demographics, and obtains insurance information.
• Collects insurance co-pays and follows scheduling notes.
• Performs pre-visit planning and insurance eligibility checks.
• Obtains prior authorizations or referrals as needed.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to BHMG policies.
