Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Formal medical assistant program preferred.
• EMR experience preferred (Athena a plus).
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer calls, route messages, and provide routine information.
• Deliver high level customer service to patients.
• Create patient cases and document calls in EMR.
• Schedule patient appointments and testing.
• Register patients in EMR and verify demographics and insurance; conduct eligibility checks.
• Collect insurance co-pays and prior balances.
• Follow scheduling notes and direct schedules in other BHMG practices.
• Perform pre-visit planning and insurance eligibility checks.
• Obtain prior authorizations and/or referrals as needed.
• Outreach to patient groups for care and quality initiatives; schedule specialty appointments/testing.
• Work in EMR buckets as directed.
• Inform manager of supply needs or assist with ordering.
• Follow up with providers on slips and create claims in EPIC.
• Work revenue cycle buckets as directed.
• Work independently with little supervision.
• Adhere to policies and patient confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as requested.
