Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking a part-time Patient Service Representative to support on-site patient services and front desk operations. The role handles visit preparation, co-pay collection, scheduling, and patient flow to ensure a positive experience.

The ideal candidate will have general office experience, familiarity with scheduling systems, and strong interpersonal skills. Healthcare exposure and knowledge of medical terminology are preferred to support patients and families effectively.

Qualifications

• Experience in a general office setting with clerical duties
• Healthcare experience preferred
• Familiarity with computerized scheduling systems preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology helpful
• Excellent interpersonal communication with patients and staff
• Strong organization and basic math to handle co-pays

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and families; delivers prompt, caring responses
• Handles visit preparation and co-pay collection at the point of service
• Schedules patient visits and diagnostic testing
• Manages third-party payors and collects co-pays
• Performs general front desk tasks and administrative duties
• Maintains front desk inventory and coordinates with staff
• Keeps the office running smoothly by prioritizing tasks and deadlines
• Ensures the waiting area and work areas are clean and organized
• Participates in cross-cover for clerical roles as needed
• Maintains HIPAA compliance and privacy standards
• Performs other duties as required
