Qualifications

  • High School graduate or GED required.
  • At least 1 year of physician practice experience.
  • On-site training of at least one week will be provided.
  • Prefer experience in a medical office setting with scheduling systems.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients in person or by phone and update demographic and insurance data.
  • Verify insurance and ensure physician accepts the presented plan.
  • Notify staff about patient arrival and prepare medical records for the physician.
  • Process HIPAA paperwork and related forms as needed.
  • Collect referrals or authorizations and monitor waiting room status.
  • Collect co-pays and provide receipts per cash-control processes.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and guide patients on medical records requests.
  • May perform simple charge entry or process payments; duties are mutually exclusive.
  • Answer calls for the practice and schedule appointments.
  • Adhere to HIPAA and PHI handling requirements; may make reminder calls.
