Job summary

Pinehurst Surgical Clinic, PA is seeking a Patient Care Coordinator to support clinical operations across our multi-specialty practice. You will manage scheduling, patient education, provider communication, and coordinating care to optimize outcomes and physician productivity.

Key duties include answering calls, verifying demographics and insurance, processing referrals, and ensuring accurate clinical documentation while delivering exceptional patient service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred.
• Experience in a medical office, patient registration, or referral coordination preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance processes including verification and authorization.
• Familiarity with EMR systems, patient portals, and office tools.
• Strong telephone, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Answer calls using approved scripts and assist patients.
• Route clinical questions to physicians or staff and escalate urgent requests.
• Return phone calls within one business day; address urgent calls immediately.
• Provide accurate messages to staff and refer provider requests.
• Register new patients, verify demographics and insurance, process referrals per policy.
• Assess insurance requirements before scheduling.
• Schedule appointments and provide directions and pre-appointment instructions.
• Collect payments at time of service.
• Open or closing duties depending on schedule.
