Job summary

Optum is hiring for a Part-Time Patient Services Specialist in Southborough, MA. The role supports scheduling, insurance verification, and patient communications within an Epic EMR environment. You will verify coverage, manage appointments, and educate patients while ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely follow-up.

This position runs Tuesday–Friday, 8am–5pm with 32 hours weekly, offering comprehensive benefits and a supportive team culture. No relocation required at this time.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of customer service experience.
• Ability to think critically and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent communication, customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Verifies and authorizes patient insurance coverage and eligibility.
• Updates demographics and other patient information including necessary consents and other documents.
• Schedules patients accurately, according to department protocols and provider preference.
• Completes patient check-out, coordinates scheduling, and other services as directed.
• Provides education, estimate preparation, and other pre-appointment instruction as needed.
• Receives and addresses patient-care-related telephone calls and references standard policies.
