Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's OptumCare seeks a Patient Service Representative for a part-time, remote-capable role in Massachusetts. The position runs 32 hours per week (Mon Tue Wed Fri) with 8-hour shifts from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm EST and occasional overtime.

Training is provided on-site at Quincy locations for up to 3 weeks, with the option to work remotely within commutable distance to the Quincy office. Responsibilities include screening patient inquiries, coordinating with care teams, and ensuring

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
• 1+ years of experience in medical/healthcare or medical insurance setting.
• EMR experience or ability to learn EMR quickly.
• Experience booking/rescheduling/canceling appointments; verifying eligibility.
• Proficiency in Outlook/Teams/Word/Excel for coordination and reporting.
• Able to complete up to 3 weeks of on-site training in Quincy.

Responsibilities

• Screen incoming patient inquiries to determine routing to Patient Service Representative or other team members.
• Provide courteous, patient-focused communication and problem-solving.
• Resolve issues related to patient satisfaction, flow, and guideline compliance.
• Assist with forms, renewals, referrals, authorizations, and information updates.
• Maintain accurate patient records and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams.
• Monitor appointment schedules and clinic utilization; support data collection.
• Participate in projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
