Job summary

Optum, located at 28 Newton Street, Southborough, MA, is hiring a Customer Service Representative to support patients with appointment and care needs. The role requires handling high-volume calls, precise documentation in EMR, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.

The position is full-time, Monday–Friday, with a standard 8-hour shift and occasional overtime. Paid training is provided onsite at the Southborough address.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED or equivalent work experience.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• 1+ years of customer service experience.
• Experience with computers and Windows based programs.
• Basic typing skills.
• Must live within a commutable distance to Southborough, MA.
• Ability to work full-time, 8:00 am–5:00 pm with occasional overtime.

Responsibilities

• Handles a high volume of calls for a defined region with back-up support to a sister region/dept.
• Screens all incoming patient inquiries to determine appropriate handling or escalation.
• Documents details of each call in the patient’s electronic medical record.
• Maintains effective communication with patients and the care team.
• Supports administrative needs such as referrals, renewals, and authorizations.
