Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Customer Service Associate in Waukesha, WI to greet visitors, assist patients, and support hospital operations on a biweekly night shift. You will handle calls, protect confidential information, and help coordinate patient encounters with Finance and Scheduling teams.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 1+ year of customer service, and proficiency with Microsoft Office; 18+ years old. Preferred: 2+ years hospital experience and EMR knowledge.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year of customer service experience in an office or professional setting.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to work a biweekly rotating schedule from 11:00pm to 7:00am (Week 1: Sun–Tue; Week 2: Tue–Sat).
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• 2+ years of customer service experience in a hospital setting (preferred).
• 2+ years of scheduling experience in a clinical setting (preferred).
• Experience with electronic medical records system (preferred).
• Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Greets visitors and patients in person.
• Communicates by telephone or video conferencing, upholding excellent customer service.
• Handles confidential information appropriately by protecting and disclosing information to only those authorized.
• Demonstrates technical knowledge and competence in departmental procedures and maintains current physician on-call schedules.
• Enters and updates patient demographic and financial information, ensuring the patient is fully registered early in the process.
• Obtains appropriate applications and forms, confirming signatures are on file; photocopies/scans documents as needed.
• Provides patients with financial responsibility information and collects patient liabilities; balances cash daily.
• Works with partnering departments to ensure all aspects of the patient’s encounter are completed.
• Provides wayfinding instructions and assists with hospital information as requested.
• Meets or exceeds audit accuracy standards; works worklists and error reports and seeks assistance as needed.
• Answers incoming calls for the hospital and handles overhead codes per policy.
• May perform other duties upon request.
