Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Texas is seeking an Access Services Representative 2 who will collect demographics, verify insurance, and register patients, ensuring accurate data at the point of care.

You will cross-train across areas, handle patient financial responsibilities, negotiate payment arrangements when needed, and mentor peers while maintaining empathy and professional service in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• 2 years of healthcare or customer service experience or education equivalency.
• Excellent listening, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Maintain a professional demeanor in stressful and emotional environments.
• Demonstrates high empathy and communicates well with patients and families.
• Ability to manage multiple, changing priorities effectively.
• Excellent data entry, typing and computer navigational skills.
• Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and documents patient interviews to obtain demographic and financial data for registration, insurance verification, precertification, and billing.
• Knows the patient flow processes in each area.
• Identifies process improvement opportunities that promote teamwork while improving revenue cycle and patient experience.
• Interacts with other areas to provide information on patient delays and schedule changes.
• Verifies patient insurance eligibility and calculates patient liability per policies.
• Establishes patient liability and advises on deposit requirements; negotiates payment arrangements when needed.
• May be responsible for cashiering duties following policies.
• Assists patients to nursing units with directions or mobility assistance; escalates issues to management.
• Adheres to compliance for order validation, government payor, and patient safety requirements.
• Conducts formal training and serves as a resource to others.
• Performs revenue cycle duties at multiple areas/locations as assigned.
