Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Patient Access/Registration specialist to ensure pre-registration and authorization for visits within the Mercyhealth System. You will manage referrals, registrations, and patient scheduling across multiple channels while maintaining HIPAA compliance and delivering excellent service.

You will also handle waitlists, coordinate with providers and payers, and assist patients with billing questions and self-scheduling tools like MyChart and Telehealth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Two years of customer service experience preferred.
• Two years of healthcare registration, scheduling, or physicians' office experience required.

Responsibilities

• Pre-register scheduled visits and ensure authorizations are in place.
• Initiate, obtain, and document referrals/authorizations in appropriate systems.
• Answer calls, determine purpose, and schedule or route to physician practices or other departments as appropriate.
• Register patients via Mercy systems for visits within Mercyhealth System and ensure payment readiness.
• Manage waitlists and rescheduling/cancellations; complete accounts in workqueues.
• Assist with self-scheduling tools (MyChart, Telehealth); provide excellent customer service and HIPAA-compliant communications.
