Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking an experienced Patient Access professional to manage scheduling, referrals, authorizations, insurance verification, and registration across Mercyhealth facilities. You will ensure accurate patient and coverage information, pre-register visits, and coordinate with departments to optimize access and revenue cycle processes.

The role emphasizes excellent customer service, adherence to HIPAA, and proactive communication with patients, providers, and payers to secure payment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of healthcare registration, scheduling, or physicians' office experience required.
• Two years of customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pre-register and ensure referrals/authorizations are in place before service date.
• Register patients and verify coverage for visits in Mercyhealth system.
• Answer calls and schedule or route to appropriate departments.
• Communicate with providers, payers, and patients to resolve access issues.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and accurate documentation in EMR/patient accounting systems.
• Assist with outreach and patient financial counseling as needed.
