Job summary

Mercyhealth in Illinois seeks a Patient Access Specialist to pre-register patients, obtain referrals and authorizations, and route scheduling through the Mercyhealth system. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Two years of healthcare registration, scheduling, or physicians' office experience required.
• Two years of customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pre-register patients and secure referrals/authorizations.
• Answer calls and schedule visits per clinic protocols.
• Register patients in Mercyhealth systems and ensure payment collection.
• Coordinate with providers, payors, and departments to verify eligibility and benefits.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
• Provide training to new partners as needed.
• Manage waitlists and rescheduling; ensure accuracy of demographics.
