Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Patient Access Associate to perform patient registration and admitting functions across hospital access points in the Puget Sound region. The role supports demographic and insurance data capture, uses multiple systems for scheduling and documentation, and escalates complex cases per procedures.

You will assist with daily access operations and maintain a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required at hire.
• 1 year healthcare patient access experience preferred.
• Knowledge of patient registration, insurance payers, and real-time eligibility verifications.

Responsibilities

• Register patients across access points and verify demographics, insurance, and accounts.
• Scan, index, and manage patient documents for registration and billing workflows.
• Explain patient financial responsibilities and collect payments at point of service when appropriate.
• Schedule, confirm, and adjust patient appointments to support access to care.
• Resolve routine registration and insurance discrepancies per established workflows.
• Provide patient-facing support via phone and other approved channels.
