Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Patient Access Associate to perform registration and admitting duties across hospital access points. You will verify demographics, insurance eligibility, and account information to support accurate data capture in the EHR.

You will communicate financial responsibilities to patients, collect payments when appropriate, and assist with scheduling to maintain timely access to care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required at hire.
• 1 year of relevant healthcare experience preferred, with knowledge of patient registration procedures and health insurance verifications.
• Familiarity with electronic health records and patient data entry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient registration and admitting across assigned access points.
• Gathers, verifies, and updates demographics, insurance, and account information in the EHR.
• Explain financial responsibilities to patients and collect payments when applicable.
• Schedule, confirm, and adjust patient appointments to ensure timely access to care.
• Identify and resolve routine registration, insurance, and encounter discrepancies following established workflows.
• Provide patient-facing support via phone and other approved channels, documenting interactions.
