Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health in Washington state is seeking a Patient Access Representative to manage front-desk duties and patient intake in our clinic. You will greet patients, collect data, verify demographics and insurance, and support efficient check-in and scheduling.

Daily tasks include processing payments, coordinating referrals and authorizations, and ensuring accurate entry into the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

• One year of customer service work experience.
• None, upon hire.
• Two years of customer service work experience.
• Healthcare or Call Center experience.

Responsibilities

• Registers and/or checks patients in/out.
• Performs patient check-in at the time of visit; records and verifies all demographic, insurance and other information; follows procedures to ensure registration guidelines are satisfied; identifies deficiencies and escalates issues as needed.
• Collects payments at check-in/out; performs end-of-day reconciliation; balances cash drawers; ensures tasks for the next day are prepared.
• Ensures insurance eligibility checks are conducted on referrals; completes referrals and/or pre-authorization for diagnostic testing, therapies, procedures; communicates plan policies to patients.
• Coordinates appointments and ancillary services; gathers and documents insurance eligibility data; schedules patients for multiple providers and clinics.
• Makes arrangements for special/ancillary patient requirements (transportation, interpreters, etc.).
