Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative to manage patient intake in our clinic, handling check-in/check-out, data collection, and payments. You will validate insurance, schedule appointments, and process referrals and authorizations to support a smooth patient experience.

You will interact with patients in person and by phone, requiring strong customer service, knowledge of billing, and medical terminology.

Qualifications

• One year of customer service work experience.
• One year of work experience as a Patient Access Representative II (or equivalent) or any combination of experience or education that demonstrates the capability to meet the requirements.

Responsibilities

• Registers and/or checks patients in/out, verifies demographics and insurance, and records charges.
• Performs end-of-day cash reconciliation and reconciles cash drawers.
• Handles and reconciles payments, collects co-pays and fees, and posts to patient accounts.
• Coordinates referrals and pre-authorizations, and communicates insurance policies to patients.
• Provides basic information on billing and insurance matters and assists with cost estimates.
