Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health seeks an Access Services Representative 2 to collect demographics, verify insurance, and register patients. You will support multiple areas, cross-train peers, and mentor teammates in revenue cycle processes while delivering friendly, accurate service.

Applicants should have 2 years of healthcare or customer service experience, strong communication, empathy, and data entry skills, plus basic MS Office proficiency; the role involves navigating patient flow and policy

Qualifications

• 2 years of healthcare or customer service experience or education equivalency required.
• Good listening, interpersonal and communication skills with professional telephone etiquette.
• Maintain a professional demeanor in stressful environments including trauma and life/death situations.
• Must exhibit high empathy and communicate well with patients and families during trauma.
• Demonstrates ability to manage multiple changing priorities effectively.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and documents patient interviews to obtain demographic and financial data for registration, insurance verification, precertification, and billing.
• Knows the patient flow processes in each area.
• Identifies process improvement opportunities that promote teamwork while improving revenue cycle functions and patient experience.
• Interacts with other areas to provide information on patient delays and schedule changes.
• Verifies patient eligibility for insurance coverage and benefit levels; collects patient liabilities per policies.
• Establishes patient liability and advises deposits per policy; negotiates payment arrangements when necessary.
• May perform cashiering duties following established policies and procedures.
• Assists patients to nursing units with directions or mobility assistance; escalates issues as needed.
• Adheres to compliance for order validation, cash policy, government payor, and patient safety requirements.
• Performs formal training and serves as a resource to others.
• Takes on new responsibilities as identified by leadership; performs revenue cycle duties at multiple locations.
