Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking an Access Services Representative 2 to collect accurate demographics and insurance information for patient registration, verify benefits, and manage financial responsibilities. The role includes cross-training across locations and mentoring peers.

Responsibilities cover registration, eligibility checks, setting up deposits, and coordinating with service areas to maintain smooth patient flow and strong customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• 2 years of healthcare or customer service experience or education equivalency required.
• Excellent listening, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Professional, pleasant and respectful telephone etiquette.
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in stressful or emotional environments, including trauma or life-and-death situations.
• Demonstrates ability to manage multiple priorities in a structured, organized manner.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and documents patient interviews to obtain demographic and financial data for registration, insurance verification, precertification, and billing.
• Knows the patient flow processes in each area.
• Interacts with other departments to provide information on patient delays and schedule changes.
• Verifies patient eligibility for insurance coverage and calculates patient liability per policies.
• Establishes patient liability and advises on deposit requirements; negotiates payment arrangements as needed.
• Assist patients to nursing units with directions or mobility assistance as required.
• Adheres to compliance for order validation, cash policy, government payor, and patient safety requirements.
