Job summary

In this role you will cross-train across areas, handle financial clearances, and support revenue cycle functions while mentoring peers and contributing to smooth patient flow across departments.

Qualifications

• 2 years of healthcare or customer service experience or education equivalency required.
• Good listening, interpersonal and communication skills, and professional, pleasant telephone etiquette.
• Maintain a professional demeanor in stressful environments, including trauma and sensitive situations.
• Demonstrates high empathy and communicates well with patients and families.
• Ability to manage multiple, changing priorities effectively and with organization.
• Excellent data entry, numeric, typing and computer navigational skills.
• Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Register patients by collecting demographics and insurance information; verify eligibility and billing data.
• Know patient flow processes in each area and assist as needed.
• Identify process-improvement opportunities to support revenue cycle and patient experience.
• Interact with other departments to share information on delays or schedule changes.
• Verify insurance coverage and collect patient liability per policy; negotiate if needed.
• Establish patient deposits and explain payment requirements per policy.
• Support cashiering duties per established policies, as needed.
• Assist patients to nursing units with directions or mobility aids and escalate issues when required.
• Ensure compliance with order validation, cash policy, and government payor rules.
• Provide formal training and serve as a resource to others.
• Accept new responsibilities as directed by leadership and perform revenue cycle duties across locations.
