Job summary

WellSpan Health in Franklin County, Chambersburg seeks a full-time patient access/financial services representative to manage front desk duties, verify patient information, explain financial responsibilities, and handle deposits and deductions. The role requires coordination with multiple departments and timely scheduling of appointments.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication, basic computer skills and familiarity with medical billing.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of medical office operations including reception, billing and insurance.
• Computer skills.
• HS diploma or GED required; vocational training preferred.
• Customer service and safety training within required timelines.

Responsibilities

• Conducts patient interview to collect financial, biographic and demographic information for patient visits.
• Explain financial requirements and collect deposits/deductibles as required; explain insurance coverages and precertification requirements.
• Collects and reviews registrations to ensure accurate information is in the system.
• Schedule patient appointments including referrals, pre-authorizations, and test instructions.
• Handle check-in/check-out duties; collect payments and issue receipts as requested.
• Review pre-arrival and messages; manage work queues as assigned.
• Reconcile daily cash and balances; support end-of-day cash handling tasks.
• Research billing questions with billing service; assist with process improvements.
• Support service recovery and contribute feedback to Supervisor.
