Job summary

Cone Health is seeking a Patient Access Advocate to be the first point of contact in our front office. You will guide patients through registration, verify demographics and insurance, and ensure accurate information for billing and scheduling.

You will follow procedures for co-pays and payments, manage calls and messages, and support scheduling, pre-certifications, and paperwork. The role emphasizes a welcoming guest experience and adherence to service standards.

Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: Graduate of a certified medical office training course.
• Preferred: Customer service, administrative 6 months medical office.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients through the registration process verifying demographics and insurance information for accuracy in payment processing and billing.
• Follow protocols for collecting and posting co-pays, payment processing and review of records for bad debt.
• Adheres to No Surprise Act.
• Maintain accurate cash drawer and prepare daily deposits and follow practice close processes.
• Follow scheduling guidelines for single clinic and return referrals and testing appointments.
• Handle incoming calls, messages, voice mail and email and coordinate follow-up where needed.
• Obtain pre-certification as needed and notify pre-cert coordinator for follow up.
• Create a positive guest experience through adherence to Steps of Service protocols.
• Provide general clerical support (papers, records, faxes, scans, filing, mails new patient packets, contact new patients day before scheduled appointment).
• Adhere to no show policy, send letters and documents for no-shows in a timely manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
