  • Basic understanding of medical terminology and billing codes (DRG, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills and customer service is required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information to patients and other employees in the organization.
  • Basic math skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

  • Ability to work independently, self-directed and work with individuals with diverse background.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to manage conflict and appropriately request the help of a supervisor when needed.

  • Attend Staff meetings and Huddles as required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in medical office setting desired.
  • Familiar with health insurance and insurance verification.
  • Knowledge and skills regarding all general office equipment including telephones, photocopiers, scanners, credit card machine and fax.
  • Must be computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and to prioritize multiple demands effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills and customer service is required.
  • Solid work history.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients with a friendly, courteous and professional manner in person and over the phone.
  • Perform registration, update demographics, verify insurance, collect payments, and document in electronic systems.
  • Confirm accuracy of information to ensure clean billing and complete visit closure activities.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service to patients and families at time of service.
  • Answer and screen calls and direct to appropriate personnel; take messages as needed.
  • Maintain patient files and process paperwork for registration.
  • Ensure front desk and waiting area are clean and presentable.
  • Follow HIPAA policies and company procedures.
  • Assist staff with clerical duties including copying, scanning, faxing, and office equipment use.
  • Support average daily productivity and participate in staff meetings.
