Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network seeks a diligent Patient Access Representative to manage patient registration for outpatient and Emergency Department visits.

You will identify patients in the hospital system, verify insurance, collect payments, and coordinate with clinics and revenue cycle teams to ensure accurate records and smooth billing. The role requires cross-training across locations, welcoming patients, guiding them through MyChart self-service, and assisting in arrival monitoring

Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Certificate/Degree in health care related field preferred.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required. General computer experience and ability to type fluently, accurately, and quickly.

Responsibilities

• Identify and validate patients in the hospital information system to maintain EMR integrity.
• Maintain knowledge of network policy on Patient Identification and Look-Up.
• Register patients, including demographics, emergency contact, diagnosis, insurance and eligibility verification, and real-time eligibility.
• Cross-train in all areas of location or region across outpatient and Emergency Department areas.
• Greet and direct patients and visitors and enforce visitor policies.
• Answer calls and provide information regarding the facility and its services.
• Promote MyChart and patient self-service to engage patients in their care.
• Oversee Welcome Kiosk and On My Way technology and monitor patient arrival.
• Coordinate referrals and pre-authorizations to decrease denials for no authorization.
• Obtain medical license number, NPI and UPIN for new provider entries.
