Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network in Phillipsburg, NJ is seeking a Per Diem Patient Access Representative to manage the full patient registration process in outpatient and Emergency Department settings.

You will verify demographics, insurance, and eligibility, transcribe orders, and assist with Welcome Kiosk and MyChart to streamline visits. The role requires excellent customer service, strong typing, and familiarity with health information systems (Epic).

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are required.
• General computer proficiency and the ability to type fluently, accurately, and quickly are required.
• Insurance background preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Previous medical administrative experience and/or health care related education courses preferred.
• Knowledge of health information systems (Epic) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and validate patients in the hospital information system to ensure EMR accuracy.
• Coordinate with departments to ensure correct registration and patient flow.
• Handle pre-registration and post-registration tasks: demographics, emergency contact, diagnoses, insurance verification, real-time eligibility, and cash collection.
• Cross-train across locations and settings (outpatient and ED).
• Greet patients and visitors, provide courteous service, and enforce policies.
• Promote MyChart and patient self-service; assist with Welcome Kiosk and On My Way services.
• Coordinate with prior authorization to obtain referrals and pre-certs when needed.
