Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network seeks a Part‑Time Patient Access Representative to handle patient registration across outpatient and ED settings. You will ensure accurate demographics, insurance verification, and real‑time eligibility while supporting an excellent patient experience.

Schedule: 16 hours/week with rotation across days; strong customer service and data entry skills are essential to manage registrations, collections, and portal adoption. Travel between campuses may be required.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required.
• General computer experience and ability to type fluently, accurately, and quickly required.
• Insurance background preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Previous medical administrative experience and/or health care related education courses preferred.
• Knowledge of health information system (epic) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and validate patient registration in the hospital information system to maintain EMR integrity.
• Identify and report any possible identity theft situations to leadership for escalation.
• Maintain knowledge of network policy on patient identification and look‑up processes.
• Handle patient registration (pre-reg and post-reg) including demographics, insurance, eligibility and verification.
• Manage real time insurance eligibility and point of service cash collections.
• Resolve patient/account/claim edit errors in work queues related to registration.
• Coordinate with provider offices to obtain necessary information for accurate records.
• Cross train in all areas of location or region for coverage.
• Greet patients and visitors and provide friendly, courteous service.
• Promote MyChart patient portal and self-service tools to engage patients in care.
• Assist with Welcome Kiosk and On My Way technology and monitor patient arrival.
• Obtain required referrals and pre-certs to reduce denials when not documented.
• Obtain medical license number, NPI and UPIN for new providers to ensure proper routing of results.
