Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) is seeking a Patient Access Representative to ensure a welcoming patient experience and accurate registration across electronic, telephonic, or in-person channels. The role supports financial clearance, insurance verification, and scheduling within a fast-paced medical setting.

Training on the EHR system is provided; the incumbent will help maintain confidentiality and patient safety while handling payments and documentation with care and accuracy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree preferred.
• 1–3 years related work experience.
• Experience with computer systems, web-based applications, and MS Office.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment and process electronic information accurately.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Bilingual written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients for visits, explains the process, and answers questions.
• Processes co-payments, co-insurance, deductibles, and balances due; reconciles cash drawer daily.
• Completes Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire and adjusts coverage accordingly.
• Instructs patients on consent and financial forms; scans and records documents.
• Counsels patients on non-covered services and ABNs; ensures confidentiality.
• Monitors waiting area; maintains smooth registration flow and patient experience.
• Responds to patient concerns and safety issues following established procedures.
• Schedules, reschedules, and cancels appointments using multiple sources.
• Verifies insurance coverage via real-time eligibility and assigns guarantors.
• Identifies scheduling issues and communicates impact to management; maintains security.
• Follows remote-work confidentiality guidelines; maintains productivity and accuracy.
